A Coastal Kitchen Design with Standard Overlay Cabinets
This coastal kitchen design effortlessly emanates the sense of calm and tranquility found only when relaxing by the beach. The window backsplash is the obvious showstopper of the design, which perfectly frames the sand and sea. This panoramic view allows you to bask in nature’s beauty—from stunning sunrises and clear blue skies to stormy seas and moonlit waters, this backsplash is an ever changing piece of artwork.
The backsplash window not only offers a stunning view, but also serves a very practical purpose of flooding the space with natural light to create an airy and inviting atmosphere. As sunlight dances across the pristine white quartz countertops, it imbues the room with a warm glow and enhances the space’s serenity.
To further the coastal kitchen design, standard overlay cabinets (also known as partial overlay) with the Sierra door style in Knotty Alder with a “Cashew” stain were chosen for the base and island. While a bit more sophisticated than rustic driftwood, this natural wood finish carries the same beachy vibe. The contrasting upper cabinets in the Holland door style with “Pearl” paint with a “Stone” accent help the space feel open and bright, amplifying all of the natural light shining through the backsplash window.
As a final nod to the coastal kitchen design theme, two Maritime pendant lights by Restoration Hardware were hung over the island. Inspired by an antique naval lamp found at an old shipyard in the south of France, they are the perfect finishing touch to this coastal kitchen design.
